McLaren Artura GT4 Achieves First Victory At Daytona IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Race
The Accelerating Performance team celebrated a remarkable victory at the Daytona IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. The McLaren Artura GT4 secured its first win of 2025 in this four-hour race, marking two years since its debut at the same event. The triumph was achieved through a strategic move in the final laps, showcasing the team's competitive spirit throughout the race.
Starting from fifth on the grid, drivers Moisey Uretsky and Michael Cooper maintained a strong presence in the top ten. Uretsky impressively handled the car for over two hours before handing it to Cooper. With just eighty minutes left, Cooper rejoined in eighth place and skillfully advanced to third as the race neared its conclusion.
In the last five laps, Cooper executed a decisive manoeuvre by taking a tighter line exiting turn six. This allowed him to overtake competitors on the banking, ultimately crossing the finish line first. Despite attempts from rivals to reclaim their positions, Cooper's Artura GT4 held firm, securing victory for Accelerating Performance in their debut race with this car.
"Unbelievable. I don't have any words. My heart's beating and I have no idea what's happening! That was the longest stint that I ever done," expressed Moisey Uretsky, reflecting on his experience during the race. He praised McLaren and his team for their hard work and dedication over three years.
"That was a lot of fun. I drove the previous version of the McLaren, so this felt very familiar," said Michael Cooper. He acknowledged Moisey's extended stints and credited his clean handover for enabling him to compete effectively against Jan Heylen and Billy Johnson.
Ian James, Director of Motorsport at McLaren Automotive, commended both drivers and the team for their outstanding performance at such a prestigious venue as Daytona. "The race was a really impressive display of the qualities of the Artura GT4," he remarked.
