Mazda Leads Industry With Eight IIHS 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ Awards For Vehicle Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed the recipients of its 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards. Mazda stands out with eight TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards, more than any other brand. The honoured models include the 2025 Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-50 and its Hybrid variant, CX-70, CX-70 PHEV, CX-90, and CX-90 PHEV.

To qualify for these prestigious awards, vehicles must excel in IIHS's front and side crash tests and pedestrian front crash prevention assessments. They must also feature standard headlights rated as acceptable or good. Each year, IIHS raises the bar for award criteria, making the 2025 program particularly challenging.

Mazda Earns Eight IIHS Safety Awards

Mazda's dedication to safety is evident in its performance in IIHS's latest crash test. This test demands enhanced rear seat occupant protection. All tested Mazda models achieved a top rating of Good by incorporating rear seat belt pretensioners, load limiters, and advanced airbags as standard features.

IIHS President David Harkey praised Mazda's achievement: "The success of our awards program depends on automakers' commitment to safety," he said. "Kudos to Mazda for meeting this challenge with eight TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners, the most of any brand."

Mazda prioritises not only passenger safety but also pedestrian protection through advanced crash avoidance technologies. These systems are designed to detect pedestrians under various lighting conditions. This approach reflects Mazda's broader goal of reducing traffic fatalities.

"Mazda's dedication to keeping our customers and their passengers safe in the pursuit of eliminating traffic fatalities is evidenced in these latest awards from IIHS," stated MNAO President and CEO Tom Donnelly. He acknowledged IIHS for continually challenging the industry with rigorous testing that mirrors real-world scenarios.
