Mazda CX-5 Sales In The UK Exceed 100,000 Units, Showcasing Its Popularity
The Mazda CX-5 has reached a significant milestone in the UK, surpassing 100,000 units sold. This achievement highlights its enduring appeal among consumers. Introduced in 2012, the first-generation model was followed by a second generation in 2017. Today, with 15 models available, it remains Mazda's top-selling vehicle in the UK.
Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK, stated: "The Mazda CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history. From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012 it has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers, who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement."
Globally, the Mazda CX-5 has been a major success story with over 4.5 million units produced. The vehicle's popularity extends to the UK market where it continues to be a favourite among SUV enthusiasts. The 100,000th unit sold this spring underscores its status as Mazda's best-selling model in the region.
The original CX-5 was notable for being the first production car to incorporate Mazda's Kodo Soul of Motion design and Skyactiv engine technology. These innovations were previewed by the Minagi concept car and showcased at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show where the CX-5 made its debut.
The CX-5 underwent a significant update in 2015 before introducing its second generation two years later. In 2022, further enhancements were made to keep it competitive. Currently, all petrol models feature 24v Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid technology and cylinder deactivation on 165ps petrol automatic versions.
Thomson added: "It’s a car that has seen amazing customer loyalty and satisfaction, so it’s great that sales have passed 100,000 in the UK. It’s incredible to look back and consider just how much the UK market has changed since the CX-5’s launch in 2012."
Expanding SUV Line-up
The popularity of SUVs has surged since the CX-5's introduction. Today, it stands alongside models like the upcoming Mazda CX-60 and all-new Mazda CX-80 as well as the smaller Mazda CX-30. The success of this award-winning vehicle established Mazda as a producer of sporty SUVs with high-quality standards.
"Now part of an SUV line-up that offers customers a wide choice depending on their motoring needs," Thomson noted. "The current Mazda CX-5 is an example of how Mazda’s successive updates and refinements to every aspect of this ever-popular SUV have kept it competitive."
The future looks promising for this remarkable SUV as it continues to evolve while maintaining its core appeal among drivers seeking style, quality, and engagement.
