Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo And Folgore Earn Car And Driver’s 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards For Luxury Performance
Maserati has announced that its GranTurismo Trofeo and GranTurismo Folgore have been honoured with the 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards from Car and Driver. These awards, in the 'Luxury Sports Car' and 'Electric Luxury Sports Car' categories, highlight Maserati's achievements in the automotive industry. The recognition is a testament to Maserati's commitment to excellence in design and performance.
Car and Driver’s annual Editors’ Choice Awards evaluate nearly 500 models across 45 segments. The process involves rigorous testing, including on-road and on-track evaluations. Vehicles are assessed based on their mission fulfillment, value, and driving enjoyment. This helps consumers identify top-performing vehicles available for purchase.
The 2025 Maserati GranTurismo blends sports car performance with luxurious comfort for long journeys. Developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, it is entirely made in Italy. Its architecture supports both internal combustion (ICE) and fully electric (BEV) drivetrains without altering the core design, offering customers flexibility.
The Trofeo variant features a powerful 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine, using pre-chamber combustion technology inspired by Formula One. Meanwhile, the Folgore model boasts a fully electric powertrain with three 300-kW motors delivering 760 horsepower to all wheels. Its 800-volt system draws inspiration from Formula E innovations.
Andrea Soriani, General Manager of Maserati North America, expressed pride in receiving these awards from Car and Driver. "We are honored to receive these prestigious awards from such a respected automotive authority like Car and Driver," he stated. The modern GranTurismo embodies Maserati’s dedication to elegant design and exceptional performance.
Maserati has been crafting desirable Grand Touring cars for over 75 years, starting with the original A6 1500 grand tourer. The latest GranTurismo models reflect this rich heritage while pointing towards an innovative future. They capture Italian flair while incorporating advanced technologies for modern drivers.

Innovative Powertrains
The GranTurismo is available with both a high-performance V6 petrol engine derived from Nettuno and an all-electric version called Folgore—the first fully electric car from Maserati’s Modena base. Additionally, the Grecale Folgore marks Maserati’s entry into the electric SUV market alongside other electric offerings like the GranCabrio Folgore.
Maserati recently introduced the GT2 Stradale—a road-legal version of its GT2 race car—powered by a V6 Nettuno engine producing 640 hp (471 kW). This makes it one of their most powerful road-going models with an internal combustion engine.
