Maserati GranTurismo And GranCabrio Production Returns To Modena In Late 2025
The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio will soon return to their roots at the Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena. This facility, a cornerstone of Maserati's legacy, will resume production of these models from late 2025. The decision underscores Maserati's dedication to its heritage while embracing future innovations, as noted by CEO Santo Ficili: "Bringing the GranTurismo and GranCabrio back to Modena is a proud and strategic decision that combines our industrial heritage with the capabilities of the future."
Modena has been the heart of Maserati for over 80 years, symbolising Italian elegance and style. The plant is renowned for its advanced technology and skilled workforce, crucial to Maserati's industrial history. It produces high-performance vehicles like the MC20, which boasts a top speed exceeding 326 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.88 seconds.
The Modena plant also develops the innovative Nettuno engine, featuring patented Maserati Twin Combustion technology derived from Formula 1 engines. This engine powers several models, including the MC20 Cielo convertible and GT2 Stradale. The GT2 Stradale stands out as the most powerful road-legal Maserati with an internal combustion engine, achieving 640 CV (471 kW).
Maserati's commitment to quality is evident in its production standards for prestigious models like the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. These cars are produced on dedicated multi-energy platforms, allowing for various versions on a single line. This approach ensures a blend of tradition and innovation that defines the Trident brand.
The GranTurismo and GranCabrio have a rich history dating back to their unveiling in 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Pininfarina, they became iconic for combining sports car performance with long-distance comfort. Over time, they have sold over 40,000 units worldwide.
In 2019, production moved to Mirafiori in Turin with the introduction of the Folgore version, Maserati's first fully electric model. The final model from Modena was the GranTurismo Zeda, marking a transition to new generations.

The brand aims to shape luxury mobility's future by focusing on customer needs while expanding Italian luxury worldwide under Stellantis' "Dare Forward 2030" plan. The full-electric range includes models like Grecale Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore.
