Maruti Suzuki Teases New Arena SUV Ahead Of September 3 Launch – Expected To Be Named Victoris

Maruti Suzuki has officially released the first teaser of its upcoming SUV, ahead of its launch on 3 September 2025. Although the name is yet to be confirmed, the new model is widely expected to debut as the Maruti Victoris, becoming the flagship SUV in the Arena portfolio.

What We Know So Far

The teaser offers a glimpse of the SUV's tail-lamp, featuring a boomerang-shaped LED signature with three distinctive light segments. Previous spy shots of camouflaged prototypes have revealed that the SUV is likely to carry a Grand Vitara-inspired design but with a sportier crossover stance. While it shares its underpinnings with the Grand Vitara, the upcoming Arena SUV is expected to have a completely unique styling identity.

New Maruti Suzuki SUV

Inside, the SUV will likely inherit most of the equipment from its Nexa sibling, including:

  • A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Automatic climate control

That said, the dashboard layout may receive a different treatment to align with the Arena brand positioning. As such, we expect the interior to be a notch below the Grand Vitara.

Engine & Powertrain Options

Codenamed Y17, the 'Arena' SUV is expected to carry over the Grand Vitara's full set of powertrains, including the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with 103hp and the 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine with 116hp.

In addition to these powertrain options, this upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUV will feature a CNG option. In terms of transmission choices, this SUV is expected to mirror those of the Grand Vitara, catering to both manual and automatic buyers.

Market Positioning & Rivals

Maruti Suzuki is likely to position the Arena SUV similarly to how the Ertiga and XL6 or the Brezza and Fronx sit within the brand's hierarchy. The Victoris will undercut the Grand Vitara in terms of pricing, making it a more affordable option in the midsize SUV space.

DriveSpark Thinks

Expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV will go up against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate. Also, with hybrid, petrol, and CNG options, the new SUV is shaping up to be a versatile family choice in Maruti Suzuki's ever-growing portfolio.
