Maruti Suzuki SUV Launch Tomorrow: Google Search Confirms Victoris Name

Maruti Suzuki's next big SUV has been making headlines even before its official reveal. Scheduled to debut on 3rd September 2025, the new model has already had its name leaked online - Victoris. Here's everything you need to know about Maruti's latest SUV challenger.

1. The Name Leak That Revealed It All

Internally codenamed Y17, the SUV's official name - Victoris - was accidentally spotted on Maruti Suzuki's own website via Google search results. This slip-up has effectively confirmed the identity of the brand's upcoming compact SUV.

2. Positioned Between Brezza & Grand Vitara

Victoris will be sold through Maruti's Arena dealerships, making it more accessible than the Grand Vitara which is limited to Nexa outlets. Slotting between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, it is expected to become the new flagship for Arena.

3. Underpinned By Suzuki's Global-C Platform

The Victoris SUV is based on the same Global-C platform as the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. This platform-sharing will help Maruti keep costs competitive while ensuring tried-and-tested reliability.

4. Bigger Dimensions

Victoris is likely to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara's 4,345 mm, which puts it in direct competition with the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm). A longer body is expected to unlock more boot space, a big plus for family buyers.

5. Multiple Powertrain Options

Borrowing engines from the Grand Vitara and Hyryder, Victoris will offer:

  • 1.5L petrol (103PS, 139Nm) with manual, automatic, and optional AWD.
  • 1.5L strong hybrid (115.5PS) paired with an e-CVT.
  • CNG option (88PS in CNG mode) for fuel-conscious buyers.

6. Wider Arena Network Advantage

With over 3,000 Arena outlets across India, Maruti is ensuring Victoris will reach deep into tier-2 and tier-3 cities. This wider availability could give it a serious edge over the Creta and Seltos.

DriveSpark Thinks

The compact SUV space is currently ruled by the Hyundai Creta, which commands 37% market share and was India's best-selling car from January to July 2025. With aggressive pricing, multiple powertrains, and a broader sales network, Victoris is Maruti's strongest bet yet to challenge the segment leader.
