Maruti Suzuki Swift Maintains Strong Market Position Despite Sales Decline In 2024-25
The Maruti Suzuki Swift remains a popular choice among hatchback enthusiasts in India. Despite being on the market for two decades, it continues to attract buyers with regular updates. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,79,641 Swift cars. This figure, however, marks an 8% decrease from the previous year when 1,95,321 units were sold.
Despite this decline, the Swift still holds a strong position in the market. It ranked second among the top 10 best-selling hatchbacks in India for the 2024-25 fiscal year. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R took the top spot with 1,98,451 units sold, surpassing the Swift by 18,810 units. The third and fourth spots were also claimed by Maruti Suzuki models: the Baleno and Alto.
Maruti Suzuki's dominance in the hatchback segment is evident with multiple models leading sales charts. The Swift's affordability and high mileage contribute to its popularity. Currently, it is priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh ex-showroom in India. Among its variants, the CNG models offer impressive mileage of 32.85 km/kg.
The new generation Swift was launched in May 2024, showcasing Maruti Suzuki's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. Despite a dip in sales last year, the Swift remains a favourite among buyers. There is optimism that it will regain momentum in the ongoing 2025-26 fiscal year.
