Maruti Suzuki Sales Rise 3% YoY in September - Exports Hit Record High
India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki registered total sales of 189,665 units in September 2025. Maruti's sales were up 3% year-over-year (+4,938 units) compared with the 184,727 units sold in September 2024.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 132,820 units, down 8% (-12,142 units) from the 144,962 units recorded during the same month last year. In the mini segment, which includes the Alto and S-Presso, Maruti posted 7,208 units, lower by 30% (-3,155 units) compared to 10,363 units a year earlier.
Compact models such as the Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Ignis, Dzire, and Celerio delivered 66,882 units, an increase of 11% (+6,402 units) over 60,480 units in September 2024.Combined mini and compact car sales reached 74,090 units, up 5% (+3,247 units) compared to 70,843 units achieved a year ago.
The discontinued Ciaz sedan did not post any volumes last month, versus 662 units in September 2024, showing a 100% (-662 units) change. Total passenger car sales, combining mini, compact, and mid-size categories, stood at 74,090 units, rising 4% (+2,585 units) against 71,505 units in September last year.
Utility vehicles, which include the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Invicto, Jimny, XL6, Grand Vitara, and Victoris, accounted for 48,695 units, down 21% (-12,854 units) from 61,549 units in 2024.
The Eeco van registered 10,035 units, a decline of 16% (-1,873 units) from 11,908 units last year. Maruti's light commercial vehicle, the Super Carry, added 2,891 units, which was 7% (-208 units) compared to 3,099 units sold in the same period of 2024.
Total domestic sales including passenger vehicles and LCVs stood at 135,711 units, down 8% (-12,350 units) from 148,061 units in September 2024. Supplies to other OEMs accounted for 11,750 units, up +31% (+2,812 units) against 8,938 units the year before.
Exports were the standout figure, with 42,204 units shipped abroad, soaring up by 52% (+14,476 units) over the 27,728 units exported in September 2024. This gave Maruti its best-ever monthly performance in overseas shipments.
