Maruti Suzuki April Sales Breakdown: Dzire & Brezza Lead
In April 2025, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the leading automaker in the country, witnessed a slight YoY increase in sales by 1%, despite a monthly decline of 8%. This performance aligns with the company's ambitious goal to accelerate market growth by aiming for a 10% YoY growth with production targets set at 2.55 million units for FY26, encompassing both domestic and international sales volumes.
Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales in April 2025 reached 1,38,704 units, a modest rise from the previous year's 1,37,952 units, securing a 39.2% share in the market. However, this represented a decrease from March 2025's sales of 1,50,743 units, highlighting an 8% month-over-month drop. The automaker's compact cars, including the DZire, Swift, and Ignis, drove the positive response, with the Dzire sedan emerging as the second most sold car in India after the Hyundai Creta, with sales of 16,996 units—a 7% growth year-over-year.

Comparing month-on-month sales, the Maruti Fronx and WagonR took the 5th and 6th spots respectively. The Fronx maintained steady sales at 14,345 units, experiencing a 5% growth from March 2025, while the WagonR's sales plummeted by 25% YoY and 22% MoM, with 13,413 units sold. The Baleno also saw a decrease in YoY growth by 6%, though it marked a 7% improvement MoM, reaching 13,180 units sold.
The Ertiga exhibited robust momentum with 15,780 units sold, showcasing a notable 17% YoY increase, despite a 6% drop in MoM sales. The new Swift launch in May 2024 significantly contributed to a surge in YoY sales, growing by 256% from April 2024, though it faced an 18% MoM decline. The Ertiga's performance underscores Maruti Suzuki's strong presence in the compact car segment.

Contrastingly, the Eeco and Grand Vitara experienced declines in demand. The Eeco's sales dipped by 5% YoY but saw a 10% increase MoM, while the Grand Vitara's sales decreased by 6% YoY, with a sharp 31% fall MoM. The Alto hatchback also reported significant declines both YoY and MoM, with only 5,606 units sold. However, the Maruti XL6 enjoyed an uplift in sales, with an 18% YoY and 33% MoM growth, reaching 4,140 units sold.
The Ignis, Celerio, and S Presso followed, with only the Ignis experiencing positive sales at 1,936 units. Both the Celerio and S Presso witnessed sharp declines in sales, reflecting challenges in certain segments. Conversely, the Maruti Jimny saw a substantial increase in domestic attention, with sales up by 68% YoY and 65% MoM to 431 units. The Ciaz, however, faced a drastic drop in sales, declining by 63% YoY and 53% MoM to just 321 units. The Invicto recorded 201 unit sales, a minor 4% YoY growth, though its MoM sales significantly decreased by 32%.
DriveSpark Thinks
