Maruti Suzuki Sales Rise By Over 6% In January 2025 - Highest Monthly Sales Of All Time
India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki shipped a total of 212,251 new cars in January 2025, its highest-ever monthly sales. Year-over-Year (Y-o-Y) sales rose by 12,887 units or 6.46 per cent.
Maruti's domestic sales tally for the month of January stood at 173,599 units. Y-o-Y sales were up by 4.07 per cent or 6,797 units compared to January 2024's 166,802 units. Month-over-Month (M-o-M) numbers were also in the black, rising by 33.42 per cent or 43,482 units compared to December 2024.

The increase in domestic sales was driven mostly by the rise in interest among customers for Maruti Suzuki's compact (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and Wagon R) offerings last month. Sales of Maruti's compact cars rose to 82,241 units last month compared to the 76,533 units sold in January 2024.
Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle lineup which consists of SUVs like the Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Jimny SUVs and the Ertiga and XL6 MPVs was the next best performing segment for the firm. The Utility vehicle segment accounted for 65,093 units sold last month up from January 2024's 62,038 units.

The only other segment for Maruti Suzuki in the black was the Mid-size segment which features the Ciaz sedan. Maruti Suzuki sold 768 units of the Ciaz last month, up from the 363 units sold in January 2024.
Maruti's entry-level Mini segment models, the Alto and S-Presso, accounted for just 14,247 of the units sold by the carmaker last month. Sales of Maruti's Mini segment cars were down compared to January 2024, when 15,849 units were sold. Sales of the Eeco Van were also in the red in January 2025. Maruti sold 11,250 units of the Eeco last month, down from the 12,019 units sold in January 2024.

Maruti Suzuki also sold 7,463 units to Toyota last month. Maruti ships out rebadged versions of the Baleno and the Ertiga to the Japanese carmaker. Sales to Toyota rose by 2,234 units compared to January 2024, when it shipped 5,224 units to its Japanese partner.
Maruti Suzuki also sold a total of 4,089 units of its Super Carry light commercial vehicle in India last month. Sales of the Super Carry rose by 677 units (19.84 per cent) Y-o-Y compared to January 2024's 3,412 units.
Maruti Suzuki's exports were also in the black last month, when it started shipping out the 5-door Jimny to its parent carmaker's home country, Japan. Maruti Suzuki exported 27,100 units last month, up 13.29 per cent (3,179 units) compared to 23,921 units sold in January 2024.
