Maruti Suzuki Recalls Grand Vitara Over Faulty Fuel-Level Indicator - 39,506 Units Affected

Ïndia's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has issued a voluntary recall for 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara after detecting a potential fault in the fuel-level indicator and warning light inside the instrument cluster. The recalled Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs were manufactured between 9 December 2024 and 29 April 2025.

The nation's largest carmaker says the suspected issue is linked to the speedometer assembly, where the fuel gauge and warning alert may not always display the correct fuel quantity. This can lead to inaccurate readings during normal driving, prompting Maruti Suzuki to initiate a precautionary recall campaign for all the affected units of the Grand Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki has released the following statement regarding the voluntary recall for the Grand Vitara: "Maruti Suzuki India Limited ("Maruti Suzuki") will be undertaking a recall for 39,506 units of Grand Vitara, manufactured from 9 December 2024 to 29 April 2025.

It is suspected that the fuel level indicator and warning light in the speedometer assembly ("Part") in some of these vehicles may not accurately reflect the fuel status as intended. Affected vehicle owners will be receiving communication from Maruti Suzuki authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the faulty Part, free of cost."

The Grand Vitara remains one of Maruti Suzuki's highest-volume SUVs and is currently positioned as its flagship SUV offering. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is manufactured at Toyota's Bidadi plant under the company's shared-production arrangement. The recall is expected to generate additional service-centre traffic through the coming weeks, although most inspections are likely to be completed quickly due to the narrow scope of the part involved.

Maruti Suzuki has not reported any safety incidents linked to the issue and describes the recall as a proactive step to ensure consistent performance across the affected batch. The carmaker continues to monitor feedback from workshops and will update its service channels as more vehicles complete inspection.
