Maruti Suzuki Faces Significant Sales Decline In June 2025

Maruti Suzuki, India's leading car manufacturer by volume, reported a notable decline in sales for June 2025. The total sales, including domestic and exports, reached 1,67,993 units. Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales were recorded at 1,18,906 units, reflecting a decrease of 13.31% YoY and 12.54% MoM.

The Mini segment saw a significant drop in sales with only 6,414 units sold in June 2025 compared to 9,395 units in June 2024. This segment includes models like Alto and S-Presso. For the fiscal year 2025-26, the Mini segment contributed 19,522 units, down from last year's 30,816 units.

The Compact segment also experienced a downturn. Models such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR sold 54,177 units last month. This was a decrease from the previous year's figure of 64,049 units. In FY25-26, this segment accounted for 1,77,270 units compared to last year's 1,89,208 units.

Despite being at the end of its lifecycle, Ciaz showed an increase in sales with 1,028 units sold in June 2025 compared to 572 units in the same month last year. However, demand for Maruti Suzuki's Utility segment decreased as well.

Utility Segment and Eeco Van Sales

The Utility segment includes models like Brezza, Ertiga and Grand Vitara among others. It recorded sales of 47,947 units in June 2025 which was lower than last year's figure of 52,373 units. Additionally, the Eeco Van saw a reduction in sales with only 9,340 units sold compared to last year's 10,771 units.

Total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales stood at 1,18,906 units for June and reached 3,93,572 units for FY25-26. These figures were down from last year's totals of 1,37,160 and 4,19,114 respectively.

Sales to Other OEMs and Exports

While domestic sales faced challenges due to affordability issues in smaller segments sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and exports provided some relief. Both categories registered YoY growth with OEMs increasing by 6.46% and exports rising by an impressive rate of 21.94%. This helped offset some losses experienced domestically.

DriveSpark Thinks!

This stagnation in Maruti Suzuki's sales numbers can largely be attributed to affordability issues as entry-level prices have surged over recent years due to stricter regulations impacting smaller car sales negatively. Currently the base "Standard" variant of the Alto, the most affordable Maruti on sale today, is priced at Rs 4.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
