Maruti Suzuki In The Green In July As Exports Surge
In July 2025, Maruti Suzuki , the nation's leading car manufacturer in terms of sales volume, witnessed a significant uptick in its overall sales figures. Maruti's combined domestic and international sales reached 1,80,526 units, marking a noticeable rise from the 1,75,041 units sold in the same month in 2024. This increase was also evident in the month-on-month growth, with sales rising from 1,67,993 units in June 2025.
Despite the overall positive sales performance, Maruti Suzuki's mini segment, featuring popular models like the Alto and S-Presso, experienced a decline. Sales in this category dropped to 6,822 units in the reported month, a decrease from the 9,960 units sold in July 2024. This downturn continued into the FY2025-26 period, where sales in the mini segment totaled 26,344 units, falling from 40,776 units in the preceding year.

In contrast, the compact segment, which includes models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, saw an increase in customer interest. Sales in this category rose to 65,667 units in July 2025, up from 58,682 units in July 2024. However, year-to-date (YTD) sales slightly declined to 2,42,937 units compared to 2,47,890 units sold in the prior year. Combining the mini and compact segments, sales reached 72,489 units in July 2025 and totaled 2,69,281 units for the FY2025-26 period.
Challenges in Mid-Size and Utility Segments
Maruti Suzuki's mid-size offering, the Ciaz, faced a significant sales decline, with only 173 units sold in July 2025, a drastic drop from the 603 units in July 2024. The year-to-date sales also decreased substantially, ending at 1,980 units compared to 2,772 units in the previous year. This decrease reflects the model's position at the end of its lifecycle and the changing market dynamics.
The utility vehicles (UVs) segment, which includes models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, also saw a decrease in demand. Sales for July 2025 fell by 6% to 52,773 units from 56,302 units. From April to July 2025, the total sales were 2,14,641 units, a decline from the 2,19,432 units sold during the same four-month span in 2024.
Despite these challenges, the Maruti Eeco van continued to draw buyer interest, with sales standing at 12,341 units in July 2025, slightly up from 11,916 units. The FY2025-26 period saw the Eeco van selling 45,445 units, a small decrease from 45,707 units in the FY2024-25 period.
Domestic Market and Export Dynamics
Sales in the domestic passenger market remained relatively stable, with 1,37,776 units sold in July 2025, only marginally differing from the 1,37,463 units in July 2024. However, the year-to-date sales saw a reduction, falling to 5,31,348 units from 5,56,577 units. The light commercial vehicles (LCVs) category, which includes the Super Carry, also experienced a dip in sales to 2,794 units in July 2025 from 2,891 units in July 2024, although year-to-date sales increased slightly to 11,304 units in the FY2025-26 period from 10,837 units the previous year.
Sales to other OEMs decreased to 8,211 units in July 2025 from 10,702 units in the same month last year, but year-to-date sales showed improvement, reaching 37,018 units from 34,950 units. Exports, on the other hand, saw a significant 32% increase due to a surge in global demand, with 31,745 units exported in July 2025 compared to 23,985 units in July 2024. The FY2025-26 period recorded 1,28,717 units exported, a substantial rise from 94,545 units during the same months in the previous year.
