Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Crosses 1 Lakh Export Milestone
Maruti Suzuki India has announced that the Jimny 5-Door SUV manufactured at its Gurugram facility has achieved one lakh cumulative exports. The model continues to be one of the company's most widely shipped SUVs from India to global markets.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is currently exported to more than 100 countries, including Japan, Australia, Mexico, South Africa, and Chile. The model is part of Maruti Suzuki's wider export portfolio, which includes the Fronx, Baleno, and Swift.
Speaking on the milestone, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "The Jimny has over half a century of heritage, globally. Jimny 5-door crossing 1 lakh export mark is a proud achievement for Maruti Suzuki. We are deeply thankful to customers around the world for their trust in this acclaimed SUV. Jimny's strong off-road DNA, reliable performance and uncompromising quality have earned admiration in over 100 countries."
He added, "The Jimny, along with 16 other models exported by Maruti Suzuki, stands as a shining example of 'Make in India for the World'. The year-on-year rise in the Company's exports reflects the love and confidence of customers in our products and highlights India's rise as a hub for world-class automobile manufacturing."
In Japan, the SUV is sold as the Jimny Nomade. Bookings reportedly exceeded 50,000 units within days of its January 2025 launch, following strong anticipation since its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in India.
Domestic volumes remain limited. Since its market launch in July 2023, the Jimny 5-Door has recorded 27,812 units in cumulative Indian sales as of September 2025, according to industry data shared by Maruti Suzuki.
Retail sales statistics indicate that 296 units were sold in September 2025, compared with 599 units in the same month of 2024 and 603 units in August this year. The SUV's monthly averages have stayed below 500 units in recent quarters.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door uses the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 103 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, both equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system.
The vehicle's export version follows the same specification as its Indian counterpart. Minor regional adjustments are made for lighting, emissions, and safety compliance depending on destination-country regulations.
Maruti Suzuki's export performance for FY 2024-25 reached 3.32 lakh units, compared with 2.83 lakh units in FY 2023-24. The Jimny 5-Door accounted for a significant portion of this growth alongside other compact models assembled for overseas distribution.
Production of the Jimny 5-Door continues at the Gurugram plant, which serves both domestic and export orders. Shipments are routed through Mundra Port in Gujarat, from where the SUV is dispatched to Asia, Africa, and Latin American markets.
