In April 2025, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 1,79,791 units, marking a 7% increase from last year. Domestic sales remained stable, while exports rose significantly, highlighting Maruti's strong market presence and adaptability towards future electric vehicle launches.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the leading car manufacturer in India, reported a total of 1,79,791 units sold in April 2025. This figure includes domestic, OEM, and export sales. Compared to April 2024's total of 1,68,089 units, this represents a growth of nearly 7%. The company's performance highlights its strong market presence.

In the domestic passenger vehicle sector, Maruti recorded sales of 1,38,704 units in April 2025. This is almost unchanged from the previous year's figure of 1,37,952 units. The mini segment saw a significant drop with only 6,332 units sold compared to last year's 11,519 units. However, compact cars like Baleno and Swift showed positive results.

Domestic Sales Performance

The compact car segment performed well with models such as the Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Ignis and Celerio contributing to sales. These models collectively accounted for 61,591 units in April 2025. This is an increase from the previous year's figure of 56,953 units. The mid-size Ciaz sedan experienced a decline with only 321 units sold compared to last year's 867.

Overall passenger car sales were slightly lower at 68,244 units compared to last year. On the other hand, utility vehicles like Brezza and Ertiga saw increased demand. A total of 59,022 utility vehicles were sold in April 2025 compared to last year's figure of 56,553 units. This indicates continued interest in SUVs and MPVs.

OEM Supply and Export Growth

The Eeco van experienced a slight decrease in sales with 11,438 units sold compared to last year's 12,060 units. Meanwhile, Maruti's Super Carry LCV saw an improvement with sales reaching 3,349 units in April 2025 from last year's figure of 2,496 units. Including LCVs in the count brought total domestic sales (PV + LCV) to a sum of 1,42,053 units.

Maruti's OEM supply to other manufacturers also increased significantly. In April 2025 alone they dispatched 9,827 units compared to just 5,481 in April of the previous year. This boosted total domestic sales including OEM supplies to reach a total of 1,51,880 units.

Strong Export Performance

Exports have been another area where Maruti Suzuki excelled this month. The company shipped out a total of 27,911 vehicles in April which marks an impressive year-on-year growth rate of about 26% over last year’s shipment number standing at just over twenty-two thousand vehicles.

With robust export momentum combined with stable domestic demand figures; Maruti Suzuki maintains its top position within India's automotive industry landscape even as it gears up towards future launches alongside transitioning into electric vehicle offerings during upcoming quarters ahead.
