Kharkhoda Plant Commences Operations, Boosting Maruti Suzuki's Production
Maruti Suzuki, a major player in India's automotive industry, has taken a significant step by expanding its production capabilities. The company has started operations at its new Kharkhoda plant in Haryana. This facility's foundation was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022. Despite some minor setbacks, the plant has begun production as initially planned for 2025.
The Kharkhoda plant is set to boost Maruti Suzuki's sales figures for the fiscal year 2025-26. The Brezza model will be the first vehicle manufactured at this facility. On 25th February 2025, Maruti Suzuki marked a milestone with the commencement of commercial production at this new site, which boasts an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles.

Production Capacity and Future Plans
With the addition of the Kharkhoda plant, Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Ltd can now produce a combined total of 2.6 million vehicles annually. Currently, the Brezza is the sole model being produced at Kharkhoda, but there are plans to expand production to include more models in the future.
Previously, Maruti Suzuki manufactured the Brezza at its Manesar plant. This facility also produces other popular models like Dzire, Ertiga, and WagonR. In October 2024, the Manesar plant celebrated reaching a production milestone of 1 crore units since it began operations in October 2006.
Electric Vehicle Ambitions
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki aims to introduce four new electric vehicles (EVs) in India by 2030. Some of these EVs might eventually be produced at the Kharkhoda plant. The company's first electric car will be named eVitara and will have a Toyota counterpart called Urban Cruiser EV. Both models are slated for production at Maruti's Gujarat facility.
The launch of these electric vehicles aligns with Maruti Suzuki's strategy to adapt to changing market demands and environmental considerations. As electric mobility gains traction globally, Maruti is positioning itself to remain competitive in this evolving landscape.
This expansion not only enhances Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing capabilities but also reflects its commitment to innovation and sustainability in India's automotive sector.
