Maruti Suzuki's Commitment To Safety: Elevates Vehicle Safety Standards Across All Models
Maruti Suzuki is enhancing the safety features of its vehicles in India, responding to the increasing demand for safer cars. The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire stands out as the safest model in their lineup, boasting a five-star NCAP crash test rating. This move aims to address past criticisms regarding the brand's focus on safety.
Previously, Maruti Suzuki faced criticism for not prioritising safety compared to competitors like Tata Motors and Mahindra, who have consistently achieved high scores in Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP tests. Currently, the Dzire is the only model with a five-star rating. To change this perception, Maruti Suzuki has introduced advanced safety features across its range under the Nexa Safety Shield and Arena Safety Shield initiatives.

Advanced Safety Features
The new Safety Shield packages for Nexa and Arena models include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with Hill Hold Assist, reverse parking systems, three-point ELR seat belts with reminders, ISOFIX child anchorages, and pedestrian impact protection. These enhancements are part of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to safer mobility.
In recent times, Maruti Suzuki has also integrated advanced technology-aided features into its vehicles. These include a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, front parking assist, and Level 2 ADAS. Such additions aim to elevate the driving experience while ensuring maximum safety.
Commitment to Safety
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki, emphasised that safety remains a strategic priority for the company. "In FY 2024-25, we made significant strides in enhancing vehicle safety," he stated. He highlighted that features like Electronic Stability Program (ESP) are now standard across all models.
Banerjee further noted that six airbags are now standard in 14 models. "The dual-channel Safety Shield rollout reflects our aim to anticipate evolving customer needs," he added. This initiative underscores Maruti Suzuki's dedication to delivering technologically advanced solutions that inspire confidence on the road.
Changing Perceptions
"We are the first company to introduce six airbags in more than 140 variants," Banerjee mentioned. He acknowledged past perceptions about Maruti vehicles' safety but stressed that their current offerings go beyond just airbags. The Arena Safety Shield and Nexa Safety Shield encompass both active and passive safety features.
Maruti Suzuki aims to offer some of the best safety standards available today. Banerjee expressed confidence that these advancements will dispel any lingering doubts consumers may have about their vehicles' safety capabilities.
