Maruti Suzuki Eeco Celebrates 15 Years Of Sales Success In India: 1.2 Million Units Sold!

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco has reached a significant milestone, celebrating 15 years since its introduction. Over this period, the van has achieved impressive sales figures, with over 1.2 million units sold. In the previous year alone, it averaged monthly sales of 11,391 units, surpassing many compact and midsize SUVs in popularity. The current price range for the passenger versions of the Eeco is between Rs 5.32 lakh and Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom).

Despite being on the market since 2010 without major updates, the Eeco continues to perform well in sales. In FY2024, it sold 1,37,139 units, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 4.50 percent. Additionally, in the first nine months of FY2025, sales reached 1,02,520 units, marking a further increase of 1.55 percent compared to the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco Variants & Powertrain

The Eeco offers versatility with its availability in 13 different variants. These include configurations for five or seven passengers and versions designed for cargo transport, tours, and even ambulance services. This diversity allows it to cater to personal use as well as commercial and emergency needs.

Under the hood, the Eeco is equipped with a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that delivers 80hp and 104Nm of torque. For those opting for CNG variants, it produces slightly lower figures at 71hp and 95Nm of torque. All models come with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Sales Analysis & Market Reach

A significant portion of Eeco's success can be attributed to rural markets where it serves businesses or is used for transporting goods. Approximately 63% of its sales are from these areas. The powertrain preference among buyers shows that petrol variants account for about 57% of sales while CNG variants make up the remaining 43%.

While creature comforts in the Eeco are minimal—offering an optional air conditioner—safety features are not overlooked. It includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and seat belt reminders for both driver and front passenger.

Maruti Suzuki's ability to maintain steady growth with the Eeco despite limited updates highlights its enduring appeal in various segments across India. Its adaptability to different uses makes it a reliable choice for many consumers seeking practicality over luxury features in their vehicles.
