Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Gets 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
Maruti Suzuki's first-ever EV, the e Vitara, has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, placing the electric SUV among the highest-scoring models tested under the programme.
The tested Maruti Suzuki e VItara came with the full set of safety equipment, including an array of airbags, electronic stability control, pedestrian protection systems and seat-belt reminders for all seating positions.

The e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection. In the frontal offset test, it achieved 15.49 out of 16 points, showing stable cabin integrity and adequate protection for the head, neck, chest and lower legs. The side impact test returned a perfect 16 out of 16 points, confirming strong performance in lateral collisions.
The e Vitara also underwent the side pole impact evaluation, which returned an "OK" outcome, indicating that structural protection and airbag deployment met the required thresholds. The full restraint package, including belt pretensioners and load limiters, contributed significantly to the SUV's high adult-occupant score.

Child Occupant Protection was another strong area for the e Vitara, where it achieved 43 out of 49 points. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara secured a full 24 out of 24 dynamic score in both frontal and side-impact evaluations, using rear-facing ISOFIX-installed child seats for the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies. The e Vitara scored 12 out of 12 in CRS installation, and then scored 7 out of 13 points in the vehicle-based assessment criteria, bringing the total COP score to 43 points.
According to Bharat NCAP, the five-star rating is valid for the 49 kWh Delta, 49 kWh Zeta and 61 kWh Alpha variants for India. These trims share core structural components and identical safety-assist features, enabling them to be covered under a single rating.

Before the Bharat NCAP evaluation, the e Vitara had undergone testing under Euro NCAP, where it received a four-star rating. That assessment recorded strong child-occupant results but noted marginal chest protection for the driver in the full-width test and marginal head protection for certain rear passengers.
Bharat NCAP follows a different scoring pattern tailored to Indian road and crash environments. Under this protocol, the e Vitara produced significantly higher results, including a perfect side-impact score and near-maximum frontal score, along with the strongest child-occupant dynamic performance recorded for this model so far.
The combination of structural performance, standard restraint systems and compliant active-safety features enabled the e Vitara to secure the maximum five-star outcome under Bharat NCAP, strengthening its safety credentials ahead of its launch later tonight.
