Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Production Likely To End In India By March Amid Sales Fluctuations

Maruti Suzuki plans to end the production of the Ciaz in India by March. Although the company hasn't officially confirmed this, production has reportedly ceased. An announcement might follow once existing stocks are sold. The Ciaz is offered in seven variants, including Sigma, Delta, and Alpha. Currently, only Sigma and Delta prices are visible on the official website.

In February 2024, Maruti Suzuki introduced new safety features and three dual-tone colour options for the Ciaz. These colours include Pearl Metallic Opulent Red with Black Roof, Pearl Metallic Grandeur Grey with Black Roof, and Dignity Brown. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are available for these variants.

The Ciaz has experienced a surprising rise in sales recently. Despite previous low figures, sales increased significantly over the last two months. In January, 768 units were sold, a 65.52% increase from December 2024. February saw further growth with 1,097 units sold, marking a 42.84% rise from January.

This month, Maruti is offering up to ₹45,000 in benefits on the Ciaz to boost sales or clear stock. This includes a ₹10,000 cash discount and a scrappage bonus of up to ₹30,000. The starting ex-showroom price for the Ciaz is ₹9.42 lakh.

The Ciaz is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The manual version offers mileage up to 20.65 km/l, while the automatic version provides 20.04 km/l.

Despite recent updates, discontinuation may be due to declining sales in recent months. For example, only 257 units were sold in April 2024, a drop of 56.45% from March's figures.

Safety Features in Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

The Ciaz now includes over 20 safety features across all variants. These features comprise Hill-Hold Assist and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Additional safety measures include dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

Maruti Suzuki's decision to discontinue the Ciaz might be linked to its inconsistent sales performance over the past year. While some months showed growth, others like June experienced declines of -21.65% compared to May.

DriveSpark Thinks

The overall sales performance of the Maruti Ciaz has been volatile throughout the past year; some months saw growth, while others experienced decline like June, where sales dropped by -21.65% compared to May. With news of the car being discontinued, sales have seen a slight increase as potential buyers are now rushing to purchase it before it's gone.
