Maruti Suzuki Celerio Experiences Significant Sales Decline In March 2025
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio, a popular hatchback in India, is known for its affordability and fuel efficiency. Despite these advantages, its sales figures have been disappointing. Recent data shows that only 2,268 units were sold in March 2025, a significant drop from the 4,226 units sold in February 2025. This represents a decline of 46.33% in just one month.
Currently, the base model of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio (LXI) starts at Rs. 5.64 lakh, while the top model (ZXI+ AGS) is priced at Rs. 7.37 lakh, ex-showroom. Despite these competitive prices and impressive mileage, the car's sales remain low. The CNG variant (VXi MT) boasts a mileage of 34.43 km per kg, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in India.

In an effort to boost sales, Maruti Suzuki enhanced the safety features of the Celerio by equipping all variants with six airbags as standard. Previously, only two airbags were available across all models. However, this safety upgrade has not yet translated into increased sales figures as anticipated.
Despite improvements, customer feedback suggests that issues with the interior quality, build, and design may be affecting sales negatively. Many buyers perceive these aspects as lacking in comparison to competitors, which could explain the sluggish market performance of the Celerio.
The company had hoped that enhancing safety features would attract more buyers. However, the recent sales report indicates that this strategy has not yet yielded the desired results. The challenge remains for Maruti Suzuki to address these consumer concerns to improve sales outcomes.
