Maruti Suzuki August 2025 Sales Report - Domestic Sales In The Red As Exports Surge

India's leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, reported total sales of 1,80,683 vehicles in August 2025. Maruti Suzuki's sales last month were slightly lower than 1,81,782 units sold in August 2024. The year-on-year drop stood at 0.6 per cent, while month-on-month volumes also slipped against July 2025's 1,93,499 units.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales fell to 1,31,278 units compared to 1,43,075 units in August 2024, reflecting an 8.2 per cent decline. The slowdown was spread across mini, utility, and van segments, even as compact models managed to maintain positive ground.

Maruti's Mini cars- Alto and S-Presso - recorded 6,853 units against 10,576 units last year. The 35.2 per cent decline marked one of the steepest drops among Maruti's product categories in August.

Compact cars such as the Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Ignis, Celerio, and Tour S delivered 59,597 units. This was a small increase over the 58,746 units sold in August 2024, amounting to a 1.2 per cent net gain. The mid-size sedan Ciaz slipped to 2,000 units, down from the 2,146 units sold in August last year by 6.8 per cent.

Sales of Maruti Suzuki's Utility Vehicles, covering models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, XL6, Jimny, and Invicto, stood at 54,043 units. The figure was lower than 62,684 units sold in August 2024, a decline of 13.8 per cent year-on-year.

The Eeco van registered 10,785 units this August, against the 11,859 units sold in the same month, a year earlier, a decline of 9.1 per cent YoY. Maruti's only light commercial vehicle, the Super Carry, improved to 2,772 units compared to 2,495 units sold in August 2024, an increase of 11.1 per cent.

Sales to other OEMs (Toyota) were also down. Maruti shipped 10,095 units to other OEMs in August 2025, slightly below 10,420 units in August 2024, which translates to a 3.1 per cent drop.

Exports surged strongly to 36,538 units from the 25,520 units sold in August last year. The increase of 41.2 per cent lifted Maruti's overall sales, helped by rising shipments of compact models and the beginning of the e-Vitara's international deliveries.

Maruti Suzuki ended August 2025 in the red, with lower domestic volumes across most segments, with sales of SUVs and entry-level hatches dropping. However, exports rose significantly, shoring up numbers, as Maruti started shipping out the e-Vitara to Europe.

This month, Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Victoris SUV through its Arena platform, which should provide a significant boost to its numbers with the Dusshera-Diwali festive season just around the corner.
