Mahindra XUV700 Diesel Variant Hits 2.5 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone: All Details Here
The Mahindra XUV700 has reached a notable milestone, selling 2,50,000 units by January 2025. Despite strict regulations on older diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR due to emissions, the diesel variant remains popular. Let's explore why this trend persists.
From April 2024 to January 2025, sales of the XUV700's diesel model surged by 25%, with 59,073 units sold. Meanwhile, the petrol version experienced a modest 3.4% growth, selling 19,690 units. Interestingly, 75% of diesel sales occurred in the first ten months of FY2025.

The diesel version of the XUV700 is equipped with a robust 2.2-litre engine that delivers 185hp and 420Nm torque. This engine offers high efficiency and performance, making it an attractive option for those who enjoy long drives and highway journeys.
Additionally, the XUV700 provides an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option, appealing to SUV enthusiasts who value off-road capabilities. Its suitability for long trips and challenging terrains further enhances its appeal among SUV fans.
The Mahindra XUV700 comes in various versions to meet different customer preferences. The MX diesel model with a five-seater manual gearbox starts at ₹14.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The AX7 L AWD edition, featuring an automatic gearbox and seven-seater capacity, is priced at ₹25.74 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competition
The XUV700 faces competition from several SUVs in its category. Notable rivals include the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar. These models offer features that attract buyers but have not hindered the increasing popularity and sales of the XUV700 diesel variant.
Future Prospects for Diesel Variants
The demand for Mahindra's diesel variant is expected to keep rising as its popularity grows. However, potential changes in government policies regarding diesel vehicles could influence future sales trends.
