Mahindra April 2025 Sales Deep Dive - Scorpio N & Thars Lead Charge
In April 2025, Mahindra demonstrated significant growth in the Indian automotive market, marking a 28% year-on-year increase in sales with a total of 52,330 vehicles sold. This remarkable performance not only underscored a 9% month-on-month improvement but also positioned Mahindra as India's second largest automaker for the period, outperforming competitors like Tata Motors and Hyundai. The increase in sales propelled Mahindra's market share to 14.8%, up from 12.5% in April 2024, highlighting the company's enhanced market presence.
Mahindra's success can be attributed to its broad range of vehicles, including both sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and electric vehicles (EVs), which have been well-received by consumers. Among the standout performers was the Scorpio range, which led the sales chart with 15,534 units sold, a 5% increase from the previous year. The Thar and Roxx models also saw a significant surge, with sales jumping 74% year-on-year to 10,703 units.

Despite the overall positive trend, not all models in Mahindra's lineup experienced growth. The Bolero, for instance, saw a 12% decrease in sales, dropping to 8,380 units. Furthermore, the Marazzo faced a steep 70% decline, with only 6 units sold in April 2025. Conversely, the XUV300/3XO model showcased an impressive 89% growth in sales year-on-year, selling 7,568 units, while the XUV700's sales improved by 11% with 6,811 units sold.
Mahindra's Electric Vehicle Performance
Focusing on Mahindra's foray into the electric vehicle market, the XEV 9e and BE 6 models made notable entries with sales of 2,441 and 550 units respectively. However, the XUV400 EV experienced a slight 3% dip in sales, with only 337 units sold. Despite this minor setback, Mahindra's overall electric vehicle offerings are gaining traction, underscoring the company's commitment to expanding its EV lineup.

As Mahindra embarked on the new financial year, it saw a 9% increase in sales month-on-month, selling 52,330 units in April 2025 compared to 48,048 units in March 2025. This positive momentum was evident across several models. The Scorpio range, for example, saw a 12% month-on-month increase in sales, while the Thar and Roxx models experienced a 20% surge. The Bolero also enjoyed a modest 4% increase in sales month-on-month.
Upcoming Bolero Platform
Looking ahead, Mahindra is preparing to launch a new platform for the Bolero and Bolero EV on August 15, signaling the company's ongoing innovation and expansion of its product lineup. This new platform is expected to further bolster Mahindra's position in the market, especially in the SUV and EV segments.
In contrast to the overall growth, the XUV700 saw a slight 1% decrease in sales month-on-month. Meanwhile, the electric segment showed mixed results; the XEV 9e performed robustly with strong month-on-month sales, whereas the BE 6 experienced a decline. The XUV400 EV, on the other hand, saw a significant 42% increase in month-on-month sales, indicating growing consumer interest in Mahindra's electric offerings.
Mahindra's impressive performance in April 2025, characterized by a 28% year-on-year and a 9% month-on-month increase in sales, highlights its growing dominance in India's automotive market. The company's diverse range of SUVs and EVs has played a critical role in this growth, with particular models like the Scorpio, Thar, and Roxx leading the sales charts. As Mahindra continues to innovate and expand its electric vehicle lineup, its market share and presence in the automotive industry are expected to strengthen further.
