Mahindra Launched Ultra-Fast 180kW EV Charging Network

Mahindra has introduced its ultra-fast electric vehicle charging network across India, beginning with two new stations placed on major national highways. The network is part of the company's Charge_IN programme, which targets 250 charging stations and more than 1,000 individual charging points by the end of 2027.

The first installations are positioned at Hoskote on National Highway 75 between Bengaluru and Chennai, and Murthal on National Highway 44 located around fifty kilometres from Delhi. Both sites feature two dual-gun 180 kW chargers, allowing four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously at full output.

Mahindra states that the chargers are capable of delivering a 20 to 80 per cent charge in about twenty minutes under appropriate operating conditions. The company has selected these national corridors because they carry heavy commuter and freight traffic, creating locations where charging stops are already part of regular long-distance movement patterns.

Each charging location includes access to nearby facilities such as restaurants and rest areas commonly used by highway travellers. These additions allow drivers to utilise waiting time during the charging process and maintain predictable halts that match existing patterns seen along intercity driving routes across India.

Mahindra says the chargers are engineered for compatibility with current and upcoming Mahindra electric vehicles built on high-voltage architectures. The 180 kW rating aligns with the charging requirements of the company's next-generation models, which are designed for sustained rapid charging during extended travel schedules on national highways.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Executive Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., said, "Electric mobility is about driving a larger shift towards cleaner, sustainable transportation. XEV 9e and BE 6, with their impressive 500 km real-world range, ensure drivers feel confident on long journeys. Meanwhile, with our ultrafast charging network by Charge_IN we will be creating an open and accessible network for all EV users. Our aim is to make long-distance travel with an electric vehicle effortless and reliable like conventional driving, thereby building customer confidence and accelerating India's transition to electric mobility."

Mahindra customers currently access more than thirty-four thousand public charging points across multiple operators through the company's Me4U application. The Charge_IN stations will appear within the same interface, enabling users to check availability, review charging status and locate compatible facilities along their preferred driving routes.

Publicly available infrastructure listings show that the majority of high-output chargers in India remain concentrated within major cities rather than along long-distance routes. The new Hoskote and Murthal chargers increase the number of rapid-charging points present on these specific highway sectors without altering the existing charging distribution inside urban regions.

Mahindra plans to expand the network across national highways, industrial routes and frequently travelled intercity paths. Additional sites are expected to cover locations that form part of established long-distance driving patterns, allowing drivers to combine regular rest stops with high-output charging sessions when travelling between key metropolitan centres.

The initial rollout forms the first stage of the company's multi-year programme, which is designed to place ultra-fast chargers across corridors that already support heavy daily movement. Each station will continue to use dual-gun configurations to support multiple vehicles, creating predictable usage cycles in areas where multiple EV users often stop together.
