Lexus Vasser Sullivan No. 12 Team Achieves Second Place At Laguna Seca Championship

The Vasser Sullivan No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 team achieved another second-place finish at the Monterey SportsCar Championship in Laguna Seca. Drivers Jack Hawksworth and Parker Thompson led the Lexus Vasser Sullivan team in the GTD class. Meanwhile, the No. 14 Lexus, driven by Aaron Telitz and Marvin Kirchhöfer, secured seventh place in the GTD PRO class after a challenging race.

Parker Thompson made an impressive start from seventh position, quickly advancing to second place during the opening moments of the race. He managed to take the lead early on in the two-hour, 40-minute event before settling into second place after the first pit stop. Jack Hawksworth then took over for the final stint, ensuring a smooth finish for their third consecutive runner-up result.

The No. 14 car began in eighth place with Aaron Telitz behind the wheel. Telitz moved up to sixth early on but faced difficulties when another car forced him off track before their first pit stop. This incident affected their car's handling for the remainder of the race, yet they persevered to finish seventh.

Despite these challenges, both teams contributed valuable points to Lexus' standings. The No. 12 team's podium finish helped Lexus climb to second place in the GTD class manufacturer standings, trailing only Mercedes-AMG. The No. 14 team remains seventh in the GTD PRO standings.

Parker Thompson reflected on their performance: "Most of my race was there in turns 1 and 2 to be honest, which is famous here at Laguna Seca... From there, I knew we were in a good spot and knew they were going to mix up the strategy a bit."

Jack Hawksworth praised his teammate's efforts: "Mega race for us... Parker (Thompson) just ripped the start and took it from sixth to first... To get second, full credit to this Lexus Vasser Sullivan team."

Challenges Faced by No. 14 Team

Aaron Telitz commented on their race: "Our No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 car was running really well... Our race took a turn after the contact with the No. 9... We picked up some seventh-place points."

Marvin Kirchhöfer added: "Obviously it wasn’t the result we were hoping for... Finishing P7 isn’t the result we wanted, but from a team effort perspective, everyone maximized the job."

The Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3s are set to compete next at Detroit Grand Prix on May 31st on a street course measuring 1.7 miles.
