Lanzante 95-59 Revealed At Goodwood Festival Of Speed: A Modern Tribute To The McLaren F1

For those who admire the Le Mans-winning McLaren F1s from the mid-90s, Lanzante's latest creation is bound to catch your eye. The Lanzante 95-59, showcased at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, stands out among other hypercars. Although not a widely recognised name, Lanzante has crafted remarkable McLaren commissions over two decades.

The Lanzante 95-59 draws inspiration from the McLaren F1 GT-R endurance racer of 1995, which bore the number 59 when it triumphed at Le Mans. This new model is based on a modern McLaren structure and features a reimagined interior and chassis. It retains the iconic three-seater layout popularised by the original F1 and later McLaren Speedtail.

Unique Design and Performance

Lanzante's bespoke bodywork for the 95-59 blends contemporary McLaren design elements with simplified aerodynamics compared to models like the P1 and W1. The concept car is painted in Ueno Grey, reminiscent of the 1995 race car, with contrasting exposed carbon fibre around key areas. This design choice enhances its visual appeal.

Underneath its sleek exterior lies a collection of high-end components from McLaren's current lineup. A 4-litre V8 engine with twin turbochargers delivers an impressive 850bhp and 880Nm of torque. This power is channelled through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels and while performance numbers have not been divulged, the 95-59 from Lanzante is expeted to do the 0-100km/h sprint in around 2.5 seconds.

Advanced Features and Nostalgic Touches

The Lanzante 95-59 weighs as little as 1,250kg with an optional 'LM30 package’. This includes forged alloy wheels and Inconel exhaust headers connected to a titanium exhaust system. For those seeking nostalgia, gold-plated heat shields adorn the engine bay and exhaust housings, paying homage to the original F1.

The cabin accommodates three people with two fixed outer seats in the carbon tub and a fully adjustable central seat. Standard McLaren parts have been reconfigured for this unique setup. Lanzante plans to produce only 59 units of this exclusive model but has yet to disclose pricing details.

Lanzante's Legacy

Lanzante's journey began in 1997 when they converted a McLaren F1 GT-R for road use at a customer's request. Over time, they have become known for their exceptional McLaren-inspired creations. The Lanzante 95-59 continues this legacy by combining modern technology with classic design elements. While it's currently a 'production-intent’ concept, potential buyers can expect it to be available soon. However, given its exclusivity and high-end features, it’s anticipated that this commission will come with a significant price tag.
