Land Rover Unveils Defender Trophy Edition & Global Off-Road Challenge
Land Rover has unveiled the Defender Trophy Edition, a special hardcore version of its Discovery SUV. The firm also revealed the "Defender Trophy", an international off-road competition inspired by past events like the Camel Trophy.
The new Defender Trophy Edition pays homage to classic Camel Trophy vehicles with its unique off-road accessories and two exclusive paint shades. This launch coincides with the introduction of the Defender Trophy challenge, a global competition reminiscent of historic off-road challenges.

The Defender Trophy Edition will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. It features two distinct paint colours: Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green. According to Land Rover, Deep Sandglow Yellow is closely associated with Defenders used in international trophy events, while Keswick Green honours rural exploration in the UK.
The Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition's exterior includes a contrasting black finish on various parts such as the bonnet, roof, and wheel arches. It also sports Trophy decals on the bonnet and C-pillar. The 20-inch gloss-black alloy wheels are wrapped in all-terrain tyres. Optional off-road accessories include a heavy-duty roof rack, deployable side ladder, side panniers for extra storage, and a snorkel.

Inside, the Defender Trophy Edition boasts illuminated sill plates with Trophy branding and Ebony Windsor leather seats. The dashboard's exposed crossbeam matches the exterior paint shade and features laser-etched endcaps with Trophy branding. Customers can opt for a matte protective film available in both colours.
The Defender Trophy is a global competition inviting participants from over 50 countries. Local selections will commence soon, leading to national finals in early 2026. The global final will be held in Africa later that year. Winners will embark on an extraordinary off-road adventure across Africa, testing their driving skills, physical abilities, and creativity.
To participate, entrants must reside in a participating country, be over 23 years old, swim 50 metres, be eligible to drive internationally, and speak fluent English. More details about the final's format will be disclosed later. The competition will also be streamed online worldwide. The original Camel Trophy took place annually from 1980 to 1998. Teams raced modified Land Rover models across challenging terrains globally while engaging in special tasks like timed rally stages and winching trials. This historical context adds depth to the current Defender Trophy challenge.
The new Defender Trophy Edition follows in the footsteps of the limited-run Defender Works V8 Trophy introduced by Land Rover Classic in 2021. The Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition will be available for a limited time period instead of being limited in numbers.
