The Land Rover Defender Octa has made its debut in India, priced at Rs 2.59 crore. This model is the most powerful and off-road-focused version of the Defender yet. Competing with the Mercedes-AMG G63.
Exterior
The Octa's exterior features a more aggressive design compared to the standard Defender. It includes flared wheel arches, a larger grille, a revised front bumper, and increased ground clearance. The SUV comes exclusively in the 110 body style with unique 22-inch wheels and all-season tyres. The Edition One variant gets 20-inch wheels with off-road tyres.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood, the Defender Octa is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from BMW. This engine produces 635hp and can reach up to 800Nm of torque in off-road launch mode. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it powers all four wheels, enabling a 0-100kph sprint in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250kph.
Interior
The interior of the Defender Octa mirrors that of the standard model but includes several enhancements. It boasts an upgraded infotainment system with an 11.4-inch touchscreen and Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather upholstery. A mini-fridge is integrated into the centre console for added convenience.
Off-Road Capabilities
The Octa is equipped with advanced off-road features, including a new suspension system that enhances both on-road and off-road dynamics. The innovative 6D Dynamics suspension system eliminates the need for a physical anti-roll bar by hydraulically linking dampers, allowing greater wheel articulation and reducing pitch and body roll.
Further enhancing its off-road prowess, the Octa features longer wishbones, robust underbody protection, bespoke drive settings with off-road launch mode, and increased ground clearance by 28mm to reach 319mm.
Colours
For those seeking exclusivity, Land Rover offers four bespoke colours for the Defender Octa: Carpathian Grey, Charente Grey, Faroe Green, and Petra Copper. These colours are available in matte finishes with protective film options.
