Lamborghini Temerario Sets New Standards For High Performance Electrified Vehicles
The Lamborghini Temerario, introduced at the Monterey Car Week last August, is a significant addition to Lamborghini's electrification journey. As the second High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) from the brand, it marks a pivotal step in their strategy. With a total power output of 920 CV, this super sports car can reach speeds up to 343 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds.
The Temerario's engine is unique among production super sports cars, capable of reaching 10,000 rpm. To complement its powerful hybrid engine, Lamborghini has developed a new Body-in-White using an advanced aluminum spaceframe design. This approach ensures superior driving dynamics and comfort by handling the increased loads from the hybrid power unit effectively.
Constructed entirely from aluminum, the frame introduces a high-strength alloy for high-pressure castings. It also uses high-strength hydroformed extrusions and increases hollow castings with thin closed inertia sections through internal cores. These innovations reduce construction complexity and optimize weight.
The new spaceframe design significantly improves torsional stiffness by over 20% compared to previous models. This enhancement not only limits vehicle weight but also ensures top-notch occupant safety and contributes to exceptional driving dynamics. The hybrid powertrain in the Temerario uses over 50% fewer components than its predecessor, the Huracán.
Moreover, there is a notable reduction in heat welds within the structure. The total weld bead length has decreased by more than 80% compared to the Huracán. This reduction aids in maintaining structural integrity while minimizing weight.
Lamborghini's focus on reducing weight without compromising strength is evident in these advancements. The use of innovative materials and techniques allows for both efficiency and performance enhancements in their latest model.
