Lamborghini Unveils The Temerario GT3: First Race Car From Sant’Agata Bolognese Road Model
Lamborghini has introduced the Temerario GT3, its first race car derived from the Temerario road model. This marks a significant step for Lamborghini as it is the first competition model entirely designed and developed at their Sant'Agata Bolognese facility in Italy. The car will participate in global race series, setting a new standard for Lamborghini's racing vehicles.
The Temerario GT3 features an aluminium spaceframe chassis adapted for racing, with modifications to meet structural and serviceability needs. It is powered by a 4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, re-engineered to comply with GT3 regulations. This engine delivers peak performance under racing conditions, ensuring competitiveness on the track.
The chassis of the Temerario GT3 has been extensively lightened and simplified for racing purposes. The aluminium frame allows quick removal and reattachment of subframes during races. Squadra Corse developed a removable rear subframe to house the engine components and new transmission, eliminating unnecessary brackets from the production model.
Carbon composite material is used for the bodywork to reduce weight. The design retains the production car's style while meeting new aerodynamic requirements. The bodywork can be quickly disassembled during races, reducing pit stop times. The front and rear ends are constructed from single pieces, enhancing efficiency.
The powertrain includes a 4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine developed by Lamborghini engineers. It features a new turbocharger and compressor unit due to GT3 regulations prohibiting hybrid systems. This setup delivers 550 hp instead of the road model's 800 hp, maintaining high performance across various conditions.
A six-speed transverse gearbox pairs with the engine, which has been recalibrated for maximum performance over a broader rev range. Titanium conrods reduce weight while maintaining strength. A custom exhaust system by Capristo complements this setup, enhancing overall vehicle dynamics.
Wheels, Suspension, and Interior
The Temerario GT3 boasts a longer wheelbase and wider track than its predecessor for improved cornering stability. New 6-way dampers from KW are featured in the suspension system, allowing quick changes during practice sessions. Ronal AG supplies 18-inch wheels that accommodate various tire brands.
Inside, Lamborghini factory drivers Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli contributed to refining ergonomics and control layout. Updated electronics enhance driver experience with state-of-the-art hardware enabling dedicated software development by Lamborghini for optimal vehicle control.
Debut Plans
The Temerario GT3 aims to be competitive across all tire brands and GT3 regulations, catering to Lamborghini's customer teams who demand refined products. Its development phase will conclude in 2026 with its debut at selected events like Sebring 12 Hours in March.
Lamborghini remains committed to supporting customer teams still using Huracán models during this transition period, ensuring they receive technical assistance throughout upcoming seasons.
