Lamborghini SC63 Aims For Strong Performance At Sahlen’s 6 Hours Of The Glen
The Lamborghini SC63 is set to compete in the third round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Watkins Glen International. Romain Grosjean and Daniil Kvyat will team up in the #63 LMDh, as Mirko Bortolotti is racing elsewhere. The event, known for its challenging conditions, promises intense competition.
In the GTD Pro category, Sandy Mitchell joins Andrea Caldarelli in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports lineup. Marco Mapelli, a regular driver, is also absent due to commitments at the Nürburgring. Mitchell brings experience from his European GT3 campaigns and previous IMSA races.
The SC63 has faced difficulties this season with retirements at Daytona and Sebring. However, last year's performance at Watkins Glen showed promise until mechanical issues arose. The team aims to build on past experiences and improve their results this weekend.
Pfaff Motorsports recently achieved a podium finish in Detroit with Caldarelli and Mapelli. Their Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 has historically performed well at Watkins Glen, despite setbacks like last year's incident with a backmarker.
The GTD line-ups remain unchanged for the Michelin Endurance Cup. Danny Formal, Trent Hindman, and Graham Doyle continue in the #45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. They seek redemption after a tough Sebring race earlier this year.
Forte Racing returns to Watkins Glen, where Loris Spinelli secured pole position in 2023. Mario Farnbacher and Misha Goikhberg are joined by Parker Kligerman once again for this round.

The 5.552 km Watkins Glen circuit poses challenges with high temperatures and humidity affecting both cars and drivers. Tyre management is crucial across all categories. Practice sessions begin on Friday, followed by qualifying on Saturday.
Weather conditions can be unpredictable, similar to last year’s event where rain played a role. Strong qualifying performances and strategic tyre choices could be decisive factors in determining success during the race weekend.
