Lamborghini Reaches Record Sales In India: Order Books Filled Until 2027!
Lamborghini has achieved a new milestone in India, with its sales reaching unprecedented levels. The brand's order books are filled until 2027, reflecting a surge in demand. This increase is largely due to the growing number of affluent individuals in the country. Luxury car brands such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz are also seeing heightened interest, especially from younger buyers. This trend has been evident over the past three years, following the pandemic.
In 2024, Lamborghini sold 113 cars in India, marking a 10% rise from the previous year and surpassing three-digit sales for the first time. The models available, including the Huracan, Urus, and Revuelto, are priced between Rs. 4 crore and Rs. 8.89 crore before taxes.

These vehicles are imported fully built, incurring a 100% import duty. Notably, the Urus SUV is among their top sellers in India, accounting for half of their total sales. The company's order books are filled for the next 18 months.
The Indian market stands out for its youthful luxury car buyers, with an average age under 40. This makes it the second-youngest market globally after China. Stephen Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, emphasised India's importance: "India is an asset for us. There is a huge potential for the future. The average Lamborghini buyer in India is under 40 years of age, and India is our youngest customer base globally after China," he stated.
Mercedes-Maybach has also experienced significant growth in India, with sales increasing by an impressive 145% in 2024 alone. Daniel Lescow, Global Head of Mercedes-Maybach, remarked on India's potential: "India is already one of our top 10 global markets and has the potential to be in the top five. The potential here to tap a new market that other players aren't in, and the growing appetite for luxury, is fantastic." The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Monochromatic retails at Rs. 4.2 crore ex-showroom.

Lamborghini plans to open its fourth showroom in India soon as part of its expansion strategy. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Maybach aims to establish itself as one of India's top five markets based on sales volume. Despite these ambitious goals, luxury vehicles still represent only about 1% of India's annual vehicle market of 4 million units.
In this niche segment dominated by brands like Lamborghini and Mercedes-Maybach, there is considerable potential for growth as more Indians express interest in high-end cars. However, the news that order books are filled until 2027 is indeed surprising.
