Pirelli has been a partner since Lamborghini's inception over sixty years ago. For this initiative, Pirelli shared expertise on reconstructing original tires for classic Lamborghinis. This collaboration ensures that customers worldwide can access authentic tire options for their vintage vehicles.

The event featured several iconic Lamborghini models: a 1967 400 GT 2+2, a 1990 Countach 25th Anniversary, a 2001 Diablo SE 6.0, and an early '90s LM 002. Participants began by identifying and testing these vehicles on roads between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. They used acceptance forms similar to those used by Polo Storico for incoming restorations.

In the workshop, participants worked on a 1973 Lamborghini Miura SV from the Automobili Lamborghini Museum collection. One task involved removing and re-mounting the front left wheel using historical methods like tightening with a center lock nut and checking with modern tools.

Participants also tackled complex procedures such as examining and reassembling a Weber twin-barrel carburetor from a Lamborghini Countach. This component is known for its intricate design and significance in mechanical engineering during its era.

Preserving Automotive Heritage

The collaboration between Lamborghini and Pirelli dates back to 1963 when Ferruccio Lamborghini requested tires for the first car produced by his company, the 350 GTV. Since then, both companies have developed advanced technological solutions focused on sportiness and performance.

Pirelli has created specialized tires for various Lamborghini models like the Miura, Countach versions, LM002, Diablo, and Urus SSUVs. These include Cinturato, P Zero, and Scorpion families. The Pirelli Collezione range aims to preserve automotive heritage by producing tires that match original designs while incorporating modern technology for improved efficiency and safety.

An example is the Cinturato CN12 recreated in 2021 for the prototype of the 1971 Lamborghini Countach LP 500. In 2023, the Scorpion BK returned for the 1986 LM002 model. Reproducing these tires involves using images and materials from Fondazione Pirelli's archive documenting tire design through history.

"Ten years ago at Polo Storico's inauguration," recalled Alessandro Farmeschi, After Sales Director of Automobili Lamborghini with a smile. "We simply opened doors for visits." He added that this year's event allowed guests to understand how Polo Storico preserves Lamborghini’s past to ensure its future.
