Lamborghini Achieves First DTM Victory Of 2025 Season With Jordan Pepper At Norisring

Jordan Pepper secured his first DTM win for Lamborghini at the Norisring, driving the #63 Huracán GT3 EVO2. This victory came just a week after his triumph at the Spa 24 Hours with teammates Mirko Bortolotti and Luca Engstler. The win marked Lamborghini's 10th DTM victory and their second consecutive win on Nuremberg's streets.

Pepper's performance was strong from the start, maintaining his lead throughout the race. He began with a solid start, holding off competitors into the first corner. Despite a slower pit stop than planned, he had built enough of a lead to retain his position at the front. His pace allowed him to withstand challenges from rivals, securing victory by over three seconds.

The Norisring circuit has been favourable for Lamborghini over the years. The 2.300km track has seen several successes for the Huracán GT3 EVO2. In 2022, Bortolotti finished strongly, while Nicki Thiim claimed his first DTM victory there last year. Factory drivers like Franck Perera and Luca Engstler also achieved podium finishes in previous editions.

Pepper's success was built on strong practice sessions where he was second fastest in FP1 and topped FP2. He excelled in qualifying, securing pole position for Saturday’s race due to the circuit's short nature requiring split sessions. His consistent performance helped him maintain a healthy lead during the opening stint.

During Sunday’s race, Pepper faced additional challenges with a 20kg success ballast onboard due to his previous win. Starting ninth on the grid, he navigated through a multi-car incident that led to an early red flag. Despite dropping positions after the restart, he managed to finish in ninth place after two mandatory pit stops.

This result places Pepper joint second in the drivers' standings, just seven points behind leader Lucas Auer as they head into the season's second half at Nürburgring on August 9-10. The latest win adds to Lamborghini’s impressive record with their Huracán GT3 EVO2 achieving its 192nd success since debuting in 2015.

Looking Ahead

The successor to the Huracán, named Temerario GT3, is set to be unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11th. This new model aims to continue Lamborghini’s legacy of success in motorsport competitions worldwide.

Jordan Pepper expressed his satisfaction with recent achievements: "It’s been a perfect two weeks and a great way to bounce back after the last three weeks." He praised his team’s efforts and highlighted how minor changes and confidence-building were key factors in their success at Norisring.
