LaFontaine Automotive Group Expands With Two New Mitsubishi Dealerships In Greater Detroit Area
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has unveiled its Momentum 2030 plan, sparking increased interest from potential business partners. This strategic initiative aims to introduce new and updated vehicles annually until 2030, enhance digital shopping experiences, and expand dealership networks into untapped markets. The plan is designed to elevate customer satisfaction and broaden the brand's reach.
LaFontaine Automotive Group, ranked as the 30th largest dealer group in the U.S., is partnering with Mitsubishi Motors. Initially, LaFontaine will open two Mitsubishi locations in Ann Arbor and Lansing, Michigan. Plans are underway to establish more facilities across the state by mid-2026. This collaboration highlights Mitsubishi's commitment to expanding its presence in the U.S. market.

The Momentum 2030 plan has positioned Mitsubishi Motors as a desirable partner for both consumers and dealers. The strategy includes launching new models each year and modernising retail facilities to enhance customer experiences. This approach aims to attract more customers and increase brand visibility across the United States.
Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of LaFontaine Automotive Group, expressed enthusiasm about joining Mitsubishi during this transformative period. "The opening of our Ann Arbor and Lansing locations mark the beginning of an exciting journey," he stated. LaFontaine emphasised that Mitsubishi fills a crucial gap in their portfolio, offering diverse options to customers.
Founded in 1980 by Michael Sr. and Maureen LaFontaine, the group now operates 58 auto franchises and employs nearly 3,000 people across Michigan. Their mission focuses on personalising automotive experiences by building lasting relationships that connect families and strengthen communities.
Mark Chaffin, MMNA president and CEO, welcomed LaFontaine Automotive Group's decision to invest in Mitsubishi Motors. "When organisations like these choose to invest in Mitsubishi Motors," he said, "it's assurance that our business is on the right track." Chaffin highlighted that such partnerships validate Mitsubishi's strategic direction.
Future Prospects for Mitsubishi
The Momentum 2030 plan also outlines a vision for a modernised retail sales model and network expansion. MMNA plans to introduce one new or refreshed model each year until 2030, nearly doubling its current lineup of four vehicles. This expansion will include advanced technology engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electrics.
