Kyle Kirkwood Achieves Second Victory Of 2025 Season At Detroit Grand Prix For Honda
Kyle Kirkwood celebrated his second win of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season at the Detroit Grand Prix. Driving for Andretti Global, he led 48 of the 100 laps in his #27 Honda. This victory marks his fourth career win, all on street circuits. Andretti Global also secured a third-place finish with Colton Herta, while Kyffin Simpson achieved his first top-five finish.
Honda's impressive streak in the IndyCar season remains unbroken with their seventh consecutive win. Since 2012, when multiple manufacturers returned to the competition, no other manufacturer has achieved such a record. Currently, Honda leads Chevrolet in the manufacturers' championship with a score of 630-509.
In the drivers' standings, Kyle Kirkwood has moved up to third place, trailing leader Alex Palou by 102 points. Palou, who is both a reigning champion and recent Indy 500 winner, was in contention for another podium finish until an incident on lap 72 ended his race prematurely.
The Detroit Grand Prix saw several notable performances. Marcus Armstrong recovered from an early setback to secure sixth place. Meanwhile, Scott Dixon finished eleventh and Marcus Ericsson took thirteenth position. Unfortunately, some drivers like Felix Rosenqvist and Louis Foster did not complete the race due to contact incidents.

Kyffin Simpson reflected on his fifth-place finish: "It was a great, great race for us in the #8 Ridgeline Honda. I think we had a lot of pace... The men and women on this CGR crew did a great job on all the pit stops."
Looking Ahead
The next event in the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES is scheduled for June 15th at World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis. The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 promises more thrilling action as teams continue their pursuit of championship glory.
Kelvin Fu from Honda Racing Corporation USA commented on their achievements: "Amazing weekend for Honda... Between our IndyCar and IMSA programs we got two poles and two wins in Detroit." He credited their success to hard work both during and off-season.
