Kia Syros EV Spotted Testing In India For The First Time - Launch Likely In Early 2026
Kia's next electric model for India has been spied on test. The Kia Syros EV, the battery-powered version of the recently launched Syros compact SUV, was recently spotted at a public charging station with full camouflage on by Rushlane, marking its first appearance on Indian roads.
Despite the disguise, that Syros tallboy shape is unmistakable. The test mule carries the Syros' squared-off profile, L-shaped tail-lamps, and wide arches. A closed grille, EV-specific bumpers, and a charging port on the front fender, which have been seen on mules abroad, separate the Syros EV visually from its petrol and diesel siblings.

The cabin of the Syros EV is expected to mirror the petrol and diesel versions of the compact SUV. Twin 12.3-inch screens will dominate the dashboard, joined by a panoramic sunroof and connected car features. Safety equipment is set to include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags.
The Syros EV is expected to use the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform. This is the same platform that underpins the Hyundai Inster EV. We expect the Syros to borrow the 42 kWh and 49 kWh packs from the Inster EV. The larger battery pack offers up to 355 km of range on a single charge as per the WLTP testing cycle. Both versions are expected to use a front-mounted electric motor.

The electric Syros is also expected to get the Inster's fast charging capabilities. will be part of the package. The Inster EV, when connected to a high-power DC fast charger, charges its battery pack from 10-80 per cent in about 30 minutes.
Pricing for the Kia Syros EV is expected to be in the ₹14-20 lakh (ex-showroom) range, positioning the tallboy electric SUV directly against the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. The pricing will make the Syros EV the most affordable EV offering from Kia in India when the SUV arrives on our roads, sometime in early 2026.
