Kia PV5 Passenger: UK Specification And Entry Pricing Announced For Electric Van
Kia has unveiled the pricing for its first fully electric passenger van, the PV5, in the UK. Pre-orders will begin on 1 May 2025, with deliveries expected by late 2025. The PV5 Passenger will be available in two trims: 'Essential' and 'Plus'. Customers can choose between a standard range 51.5kWh battery or a long range 71.2kWh battery, offering up to 249 miles on a single charge.
The PV5 Passenger is initially offered with five seats, but a seven-seat version is planned for later release. The vehicle's E-GMP.S platform provides a flat floor for enhanced legroom, while its boxy design maximises head and shoulder space. Additionally, sliding side doors open to 775mm with a low step height of 402mm for easy access.
The 'Essential' grade offers both battery options, while the 'Plus' grade comes exclusively with the long range battery. The standard range battery powers an 89.4kW motor, while the long range version outputs 120kW. Both variants are front-wheel drive and support fast charging from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes at a 150kW charging point.
In terms of cargo capacity, the PV5 Passenger offers substantial space even with all seats upright—1,320 litres of luggage room that expands to 2,315 litres when the second row is folded down. This makes it highly practical for families and businesses alike.
All PV5 Passenger models come equipped with features like LED lighting, automatic air conditioning, and a smart entry system. The interior includes part PU and cloth upholstery, a driver’s seat armrest, and manual tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment. A comprehensive suite of safety features is also standard across all models.
The 'Plus' variant adds premium touches such as alloy wheels, electric folding mirrors, heated front seats and steering wheel, powered tailgate, and advanced safety assists like blind-spot collision avoidance. It also includes Vehicle-to-Load capability for powering external devices.
Future Models and Colour Options
Kia plans to expand its electric van lineup with the larger PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029. The PV5 itself will see additional variants released in 2026. Customers can choose from nine colour options for their PV5 Passenger, including eight premium colours available for an extra £750.
The technical specifications reveal that both battery options offer different performance metrics. The standard range model accelerates from 0-62mph in 12.8 seconds while the long range does it in 10.7 seconds. Both have a top speed of 84mph.
With Kia's focus on providing well-equipped vehicles at competitive prices, the PV5 Passenger aims to meet diverse customer needs while promoting sustainable transportation solutions through its fully electric design.
