Kia Unveils Specifications And Pricing For PV5 Cargo, Crew, And Chassis Cab In The UK
Kia has unveiled the specifications and pricing for its first fully electric commercial vehicle, the PV5. Pre-orders for the PV5 Cargo will commence on 1 May 2025, with deliveries expected by late 2025. The PV5 will be available in three main body types: Cargo, Crew, and Chassis Cab, each offering two trim levels: 'Essential' and 'Plus'.
The PV5 Cargo is set to debut in the UK market with a starting price of £27,645 (+VAT). It qualifies for the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) Plug-in Van Grant, potentially reducing the cost by up to £5,000. The vehicle comes with two battery options: a standard range 51.5kWh or a long range 71.2kWh pack.
The standard range battery offers a payload advantage due to its lighter weight, while the long range battery extends driving distance but slightly reduces payload capacity. Both variants feature front-wheel drive with high torque output to ensure strong performance regardless of load.
The PV5's fast charging capability allows both battery types to charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes when connected to a 150kW charging point. This feature ensures minimal downtime during operations.
Designed from scratch as an electric vehicle, the PV5 offers a low cargo load height of just 419mm at the rear. Its compact dimensions and small turning circle enhance manoeuvrability in tight spaces. The interior features a large touchscreen display supporting Android Automotive OS, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The PV5 Cargo L2/H1 can travel up to 247 miles on a single charge with the long range battery option. It accommodates up to two euro-pallets within its 4.4m3 cargo volume and supports a maximum payload of 790kg with the standard range battery.
Additional Variants
The PV5 Crew variant includes two front seats and a rear bench seat that can be adjusted for more cargo space or passenger comfort. It is available only with the standard range battery, offering up to 174 miles of range per charge.
The unfinished Chassis Cab model provides flexibility for various conversions and industries. It supports both battery options and offers significant payload capacity, making it ideal for diverse job requirements.
Standard Equipment
All models come equipped with numerous features such as LED lighting, automatic air conditioning, parking sensors, and advanced safety systems like forward collision-avoidance assist and lane keep assist.
The 'Plus' grade adds extras like heated seats, wireless phone charging, and blind-spot collision avoidance. Customers can also choose from premium paint options for an additional cost.
Future Plans
Kia plans to expand its electric van lineup with larger models like the PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029. Further details about additional variants of the PV5 will be released in 2026.
Kia's industry-leading seven-year/100,000-mile warranty covers all PV5 variants along with an eight-year warranty on high voltage batteries. This comprehensive coverage ensures peace of mind for customers investing in Kia's electric commercial vehicles.
