Kia India Issues Voluntary Recall For EV6 Electric Vehicles To Update Software

Kia India has initiated a voluntary recall for 1,380 units of its EV6 model. These vehicles were manufactured between 3 March 2022 and 14 April 2023. The recall aims to update the software in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) to enhance the charging process and improve the performance of the 12V auxiliary battery.

The recall affects the pre-facelift version of the EV6. Kia India has already informed the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) about this initiative. The company is actively reaching out to owners to inform them about this recall campaign. Customers can also contact their dealers for further assistance.

EV6 Recall Details

The potential issue with the ICCU could impact the performance of the auxiliary battery, prompting Kia's proactive approach. This recall is part of Kia's commitment to improving customer experience by addressing potential issues before they become significant problems.

In January, Kia India showcased the facelifted version of the EV6 at the Bharat Mobility Expo. This updated model, unveiled globally in May 2024, features several enhancements both inside and out. Bookings for this new version began on 17 January.

Upcoming Launches

While currently, the EV6 is Kia's only electric vehicle available in India, plans are underway to introduce another model soon. The EV9 electric SUV is expected to be launched within this financial year. This three-row electric vehicle has been spotted testing multiple times in India.

Kia's decision to recall these units reflects its dedication to maintaining high standards and ensuring customer satisfaction. By addressing potential errors early on, Kia aims to provide a seamless ownership experience for its customers.

The company encourages affected owners to participate in this recall for optimal vehicle performance. Kia India's proactive measures demonstrate its commitment to safety and quality in its offerings.
