Kia EV3 Receives Highest Euro NCAP Rating For Assisted Driving Technology
The Kia EV3 has achieved the top "Very Good" rating in Euro NCAP's assisted driving test. This evaluation, conducted by Europe's independent vehicle safety authority, assessed the Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) system. The system integrates real-time driver monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane centring. This marks the first time a Kia model has received this highest grade.
In the assessment, the EV3 was evaluated in two main categories: 'assistance competence' and 'safety backup'. It scored 74 out of 100 points for assistance competence and 88 out of 100 for safety backup. With a total score of 162 points, it secured the top rating. This achievement is significant for both Kia and Hyundai Motor Group as it is their first model to reach this level.

Euro NCAP highlighted that the EV3’s HDA 2 system effectively balances vehicle assistance with driver engagement. It supports drivers in various real-world situations like lane changes, maintaining lane position at different speeds, and stopping if the driver becomes unresponsive. The combination of these features provides "very good" motorway assistance.
Pablo Martinez Masip, Vice President Product and Marketing of Kia Europe, stated, "This excellent outcome reflects Kia’s commitment to delivering advanced technologies that enhance driver convenience and passenger safety." He also noted that the EV3’s performance in the Euro NCAP test highlights the capabilities of Highway Driving Assist 2.
The EV3 is designed as a high-volume electric car for the compact SUV market. It offers versatility and affordability suitable for being a primary household vehicle. The model was named as the 2025 World Car of the Year at the World Car Awards.
Award-Winning Features
The vehicle has also won several awards in the UK, including ‘Best EV Crossover’ at TopGear.com Electric Awards 2025 and ‘UK Car of the Year 2025’ at The UK Car of the Year Awards. Kia plans to expand customer options by introducing an all-wheel-drive variant of the EV3. This move aims to provide more choices for consumers seeking different driving experiences.
