At the Kia EV Day event in 2025, the Kia EV2 Concept made its debut. This compact yet roomy electric vehicle is part of Kia's strategy to boost global electric vehicle adoption. The EV2 Concept stands out with its distinctive features and design elements.

The exterior of the Kia EV2 Concept embodies the 'Opposites United' design philosophy, merging elegance and toughness. Its sleek metal panels are paired with stylish bumpers, unique wheel arches, and robust body cladding for a sporty appearance. An open light design without covers adds to its character. The alloy wheels feature special square elements with KIA lettering at their center. All lighting components, including sharp tail lights, are vertically connected, and turn signals are vertically shaped on ORVMs.

Inside, the Kia EV2 Concept offers a minimalist design with plenty of passenger space. It includes a front bench seat and customizable seating arrangements. Rear seats can fold down, while front seats can slide back for more room. The dashboard is sleek and clutter-free, featuring a large integrated screen for infotainment and instrument cluster. The cockpit area is finished with deep burgundy fabric, while small materials are used throughout. A yoke-style steering wheel, unique LED dashboard animations, and triangular-shaped lights enhance the interior’s appeal. Lights on the windows help communicate with other road users and pedestrians.

The EV2 Concept features advanced capabilities like OTA updates and vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology. Its detachable triangular speakers offer a unique design as they can be placed anywhere inside or carried around when the car is parked.

The EV2 Concept's exterior showcases an innovative design with no B-pillars and suicide doors that open backward. This setup allows easy access to the vehicle and offers panoramic views when all doors are open, reminiscent of the BMW i3. This design is particularly suitable for cabin settings.

Technical Specifications

Although specific specifications have not been disclosed, the EV2 is anticipated to use Hyundai’s E-GMP platform's entry-level 400V architecture. The front-mounted electric motor generates 201 hp power. The EV2 is expected to utilise a 43.3 kWh LFP battery pack in the PV5 Electric Vehicle.

Kia plans to introduce the EV2 as a successor to the Picanto hatchback in Europe and other global markets by 2026. With high demand for entry-level EVs in India, it is likely to be launched there too. Notably, Kia has already secured trademarks for eight new electric vehicles in India, including the EV2.
