Kia Carens Clavis Bookings To Be Opened At Midnight: Token Amount, Powertrain, Features, & Other Key Details
Kia Motors officially revealed the new Carens Clavis today in India. However, prices for the new Carens Clavis model are yet to be revealed. That being said, Kia India will open bookings for the Clavis at midnight and interested customers can book the model by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000.
In terms of market positioning, the Kia Carens Clavis is positioned above the Kia Carens, just like how Maruti Suzuki positioned XL6 above the Ertiga. Moreover, the introduction of Kia Carens Clavis reduces the gap between the Kia Carens and the more premium Toyota Innova Hycross/Maruti Suzuki Invicto.
Speaking about the Kia Carens Clavis, the model is heavily based on the Kia Carens. However, the design has been substantially overhauled to make the model look more SUV-like and less MPV-like. In fact, the Clavis features many design elements similar to the recently launched Kia Syros. At present, the Kia Carens Clavis is available in eight monotone colours, including a fresh Ivory Silver Gloss.
Other paint options include Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, and Clear White. Notably, there is no dual-tone paint scheme for the Clavis.
Inside, the new Kia Clavis features a large 30-inch display that integrates a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, and a 5-inch climate control screen.
The Carens Clavis also offers luxurious amenities such as a 4-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and ventilated front seats. It also includes an 8-speaker Bose sound system and a dash-cam with dual view. Safety features comprise six airbags and a 360-degree surround view camera with blind spot monitoring.
Similar to the Kia Syros, the Carens Clavis comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof and both front and rear parking sensors. The second row seats can slide and recline for added comfort. Additionally, it includes LEVEL 2 ADAS technology with features like front collision avoidance assist and driver attention warning.
The adaptive cruise control system enhances driving convenience while autonomous emergency braking ensures safety. Lane assist further aids in maintaining lane discipline on highways or busy roads.
Engine Options
The powertrain options for the Kia Carens Clavis mirror those of the Carens MPV. It offers three engine choices: a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 114bhp and 144Nm torque paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox; a turbo diesel engine delivering 114bhp and 250Nm torque available with either a manual or automatic transmission; and finally, a turbo petrol unit generating an impressive 157bhp along with 253Nm torque.
This turbo petrol engine can be coupled with various gearbox options including a 6-speed MT (manual transmission), or even an advanced 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission).
