Kia Carens Undergoes Major Changes: Only This Trim Left!
Following the introduction of the Carens Clavis, the Kia Carens lineup has undergone significant changes, with the discontinuation of every variant except for the Premium(O) trim. This move has also affected the MPV's available powertrains.
Consequently, the Carens now comes in a single variant priced at Rs 11.41 lakh, devoid of features such as a sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, a 6-seat configuration, and ventilated seats. Additionally, options for an automatic gearbox have been eliminated from the Carens lineup.
Previously, the Carens was offered in nine distinct variants, ranging from the base Premium to the top-of-the-line X-Line. However, with the recent lineup revision, only the Premium(O) variant remains, which lacks several high-demand features including ventilated seats, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, and leatherette upholstery, among others.
The Premium(O) variant, while still available with all three engine options—a 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 116hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, and a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine—no longer offers automatic transmission choices.
Both the petrol and diesel engines are now paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol engine is matched with a 6-speed iMT. This indicates that the 7-speed dual-clutch and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions have been phased out for the Carens.

The removal of various Carens variants and options marks a significant shift in Kia's strategy for this model. Starting from Rs 11.41 lakh, the only choice for prospective Carens buyers is the somewhat stripped-down Premium(O) trim. This version lacks many of the amenities and configurations that were previously available, reflecting a streamline of offerings within the Carens range.
