Kia Carens Clavis Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 11.50 Lakh
The Kia Carens Clavis, a premium alternative to the standard Carens, has been introduced in India with prices starting at Rs 11.50 lakh and going up to Rs 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings commenced on May 9 for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Clavis offers enhanced safety features, a refreshed exterior design, and a feature-rich interior.
Design
The Clavis is essentially a facelifted version of the Carens, built on the K2 platform. It features triple-pod LED headlights similar to those on the Kia EV5 and a new light bar connecting inverted L-shaped DRLs. The bumper's chin is adorned with faux-metal trim in silver. The overall silhouette remains akin to the Carens MPV, but plastic cladding along the doors and wheel arches gives it an SUV-like appearance.

Features
Inside, the new Kia Carens Clavis offers both six and seven-seater configurations. The dashboard sports a blue-and-beige theme with twin 12.3-inch screens: one for infotainment and another for driver information. Notably, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are absent in the top HTX trims' larger unit but available in lower variants' 8-inch unit.
Moreover, the Carens Clavis includes several comfort features such as ventilated front seats (with only the driver's seat being electrically adjustable), panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, eight-speaker Bose sound system, air purifier, drive modes (eco, normal, sport), paddle shifters (exclusive to DCT), AC vents for second and third rows along with USB ports.

Safety Tech
The Clavis introduces a Level 2 ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera setup, enhancing safety compared to the standard Carens. Features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert are included. Standard safety equipment comprises six airbags, ABS, hill-start assist, TPMS, and all-four disc brakes.
Engine Options & Fuel Efficiency
The engine lineup includes familiar options from the standard Carens: a 115hp naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 160hp turbocharged petrol engine, and a 116hp diesel engine. Transmission choices have expanded with DCT and AT units added to MT and iMT pairings. However, CNG remains unavailable despite being offered by competitors like XL6, Ertiga, and Rumion.

The diesel variant boasts the highest claimed mileage at 19.4kpl. The turbo-petrol follows with 16.66kpl while the naturally aspirated petrol achieves 15.34kpl.
DriveSpark Thinks
Kia's new offering aims to elevate its position in India's MPV market by combining style with advanced technology while retaining practicality through versatile seating arrangements and efficient powertrains.
