Top 5 Things About The New Kia Carens Clavis EV
The Kia Carens Clavis EV has been introduced in India, marking the brand's first locally manufactured mass-market electric vehicle. That said, here are the top 5 things you need to know about the new Kia Carens Clavis EV.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Variants & Price
The new Kia Carens Clavis EV is available with two battery options: a 42kWh pack and a 51.4kWh pack, offering ranges of up to 404km and 490km respectively. There are a total of four variants (HTK+, HTX, HTX long range, and HTX+ long range), and prices range from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for this model will begin on July 22.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Design
In terms of design, the Carens Clavis EV retains much of the styling from its ICE counterpart but includes some EV-specific updates. The front bumper has been slightly modified with active aero flaps for better aerodynamics. The charging port is now located at the front, and there are new Ice-cubed LED fog lamps along with a silver trim on the lower bumper.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Interior & Tech
Inside, the dashboard remains largely unchanged, though it features a new floating centre console design for extra storage space. In terms of tech, the top variant includes ventilated seats, a Bose sound system, and a panoramic sunroof. It also comes equipped with twin 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, and connected car features.
Some of the notable safety features include six airbags, ESC, ABS, hill-start assist, TPMS, all-four-disc brakes as standard, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Specs & Performance
The Carens Clavis EV shares its platform with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The smaller 42kWh battery pack is paired with a 135hp motor, whereas the bigger 51.4kWh battery pack sends its juice to a 171hp motor. Both motors are mounted on the front axle and deliver torque of 255Nm. Kia claims that the larger battery variant can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 8.4 seconds.
Charging options include two AC chargers: a 7.4kW charger that takes about four hours to fully charge the smaller battery from 10% to 100%, while the larger battery requires approximately four hours and forty-five minutes using an 11kW charger. Additionally, Kia provides an eight-year or 1,60,000km warranty on the entire vehicle.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Market Positioning
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is positioned as an affordable three-row electric vehicle in India. It competes directly with models like the BYD eMax 7 which costs between Rs 26.90 lakh and Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom). However, unlike its competitors which offer both six- and seven-seater versions, the Clavis EV is only available as a seven-seater.
Despite being priced similarly to its sibling model Hyundai Creta Electric (Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.38 lakh), it stands out due to its affordability in the three-row segment.
