Kia Carens Clavis EV Specifications and Performance
Underneath its exterior, the Carens Clavis EV shares quite a few bits with the Hyundai Creta Electric. It features two battery choices: a 42kWh unit offering an ARAI-certified MIDC range of 404km and a 51.4kWh unit providing up to 490km. The smaller battery powers a 135hp motor, while the larger one supports a 171hp motor, with both delivering 255Nm of peak torque.
Charging options include two AC chargers: a 7.4kW and an 11kW version. Using the latter, the smaller battery can be charged from 10% to full in four hours, while the larger one takes four hours and forty-five minutes. Kia provides an eight-year or 1,60,000km warranty on the vehicle.
Kia Carens Clavis EV - Design, Features & Safety
The design of the Carens Clavis EV remains largely similar to its ICE counterpart but includes some EV-specific updates. The front bumper has been slightly modified with active aero flaps for better aerodynamics. A charging port is now located on the nose of the MPV, and new LED fog lamps have been added.
Inside, the dashboard design mirrors that of the regular Carens but features a new floating centre console for additional storage space. Different trims have been used on the dashboard and door pads for differentiation. The vehicle also includes twin 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, and more.
Safety is prioritized in the Carens Clavis EV with six airbags, ESC, ABS, hill-start assist, TPMS, and all-four-disc brakes as standard features. Higher trims offer Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety measures. Additionally, there is a virtual engine sound system designed for pedestrian protection.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV competes with models like the BYD eMax 7 in India. While the eMax 7 offers both six and seven-seater versions priced between Rs 26.90 lakh and Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom), Clavis EV is available only as a seven-seater option.
