Kia America Reports Eighth Consecutive Month Of Year-Over-Year Sales Growth With 79,007 Units Sold In May
Kia America reported a 5% increase in sales for May, with 79,007 units sold. This marks the eighth consecutive month of year-over-year growth. Retail sales rose by 8% compared to May 2024, and year-to-date sales are up by 15%. The Carnival MPV saw a significant rise of 68%, while Telluride and Sportage SUVs also achieved record May sales.
The introduction of the 2026 EV9 Nightfall Edition and EV9 GT-Line with a two-tone roof is expected to boost Kia's market presence. These models feature improved design elements and performance enhancements, catering to customers seeking a three-row electric SUV. Eric Watson, Kia America's vice president of sales operations, highlighted the brand's diverse powertrain lineup as a key factor in its sustained growth.

Kia's "Accelerate the Good" Dealer Match program raised $4.6 million for non-profit organisations in 2024. This includes over $1.5 million each for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and No Kid Hungry. Now in its fourth year, this initiative continues to support various causes across the U.S., showcasing Kia's commitment to social responsibility.
The Kia Sportage Hybrid was named one of Cars.com's Best Hybrids for the Money in the Compact SUV category for the second consecutive year. Additionally, the K4 sedan received a Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX award for its impressive interior design and user-experience technology. These accolades reflect Kia's dedication to quality and innovation.
In terms of specific model sales, the K4/Forte led with 13,870 units sold in May, followed by Sportage with 17,063 units. The Telluride recorded 11,560 units sold, while Carnival reached 6,975 units. Overall, Kia's diverse range of vehicles continues to attract strong customer interest.
